Polyurethane is a modern material that is very wear-resistant, not outdated and if correctly assembled never needs to be replaced again. Polyurethane is somewhat stiffer than rubber, and therefore gives a tighter feeling from the suspension (without becoming uncomfortable) compared to original rubber.
